Some Very Hand Hints
Love the blog as hubby and I also growing veg in pots and enjoying eating own, organic, perfectly fresh produce whilst saving money. Would like to share some ideas:
a Nettle fertiliser (free - instructions on internet); use large plastic bottles to make this.
b) The real seed catalogue (grow plants, harvest seed and use these in following year - company is on internet);
c) Cut rings from a plastic bottle,serrated edges by making alternating cuts with scissors, then use rings to encircle seedlings - deters slugs while plants establish.
d) Retain "funnel" of the same plastic bottle,invert, press deep into soil to precisely direct watering to roots.
e Remove base from large plastic bottle, remove top and use as a cloche; top can be replaced at night to keep plant warm.
f) Fit "rose" (available at gardening centre for 50p) to small plastic drinks bottle to produce mini watering can.
