Scrap Cars - Giveacar?
Scrap cars or Giveacar does not exactly spring to mind when we’re looking to save money.
We may come up with several ideas related to transport.
We may stop driving as much, and start walking and using public transport.
We may take measures to stop needing so much petrol.
However, there’s another related way to save money; how about a car donation?
If you have an unwanted vehicle - it may be ready for scrap or just completely superfluous to requirements, Giveacar can help.
Giveacar is a social enterprise started by recent graduate Tom Chance, which raises money for charity through unwanted cars either by taking them straight to a scrap yard or through car salvage auctions.
All it takes is one phone call to organise, and then you will be entered into our system and referred onto our subcontracted collection agents. Your vehicle will be collected at a convenient time at no cost to you.
Then, depending on the age and condition of the vehicle, it will either be scrapped at an Authorised Treatment Facility, or sent to a car salvage auction.
If it is scrapped, at least 85% of the weight will be recycled. The proceeds from this will be donated to the charity of your choice after a subtraction of an administration fee of 25% of the car’s final value.
Not only do you get to dispose of your vehicle in a free, ethical and convenient manner, you also get to help the environment and avoid supporting illegal scrap yards. Illegal scrap yards not only damage the environment, they also sometimes unlawfully reintroduce these cars onto the road, causing a safety risk for everyone.
Since its inception in January 2010, Giveacar has raised over £250,000 collectively for a group of over 250 charities. So you can dispose of scrap cars that you no longer want, as well as helping the environment and donating to the cause of your choice, all through just one phonecall.
