Then there is Consumer Credit Counselling Services. You will find them at www.cccs.co.uk
Try their Debt Remedy Service. This is a clear site, easy to use. Unfortunately, they estimate that 170,000 new mortgages will be over 3 months in arrears by the end of 2008.

Click on your national flag to get advice appropriate for your area. They say their advice is free, confidential and independent.

* Visit their debt advice section to get information that may help you deal with your debt problem.
* Access the library of fact sheets.
See if you can pay your debts via a Debt Management Plan (DMP) There is also the Council of Mortgage lenders and their site www.cml.org.uk/cml/home
