This is one of the oldest and best, free advice organisations. Their debt information is extensive. They have noticed a significant increase in enquiries for help regarding debt and new mortgage problems over the past year so they know what they are talking about.

They can help you combine your debts into one affordable payment,
Stop creditor hassle,
Stop Interest and charges and
Save up to 40% each month on your debts.

Their telephone number is 08000 122 118 and is free.

The CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) has hundreds of branch offices throughout the country where you can drop in for advice. The CAB helps resolve over 5.5 million queries every year. You should be able to get help with your debt information on your new mortgage, or at least be pointed in the right direction here.

Then there is Consumer Credit Counselling Services. You will find them at www.cccs.co.uk Try their Debt Remedy Service. This is a clear site, easy to use. Unfortunately, they estimate that 170,000 new mortgages will be over 3 months in arrears by the end of 2008.

This site also offers tips on preparing a Personal Budget plus several other interesting pages.

There are some other sites and organisations ready to help and most are free.

One is the National Debtline www.nationaldebtline.co.uk

Their free phone telephone number is 0808 808 4000

Click on your national flag to get advice appropriate for your area. They say their advice is free, confidential and independent.

On their web site you can:

* Download their information pack to deal with your debt problems.
* Use their personal budget section to work out what repayments you can afford.
* Use their suite of sample letters to write to your creditors.
* Visit their debt advice section to get information that may help you deal with your debt problem.
* Access the library of factsheets.

See if you can pay your debts via a Debt Management Plan (DMP)

Another one is www.thinkmoney.com. They are one of the UK's largest and longest-established providers of financial products and advice, and can be reached on 0800 047 4222.

So may well be worth investigating to see if they can help with your mortgage problems. This seems to be a very accommodating and helpful agency with free fact sheets available.

Then there is the Council of Mortgage lenders and their site www.cml.org.uk/cml/home
